The popularity of CBD has not gone unnoticed in the world of sport. Amateurs or high-level athletes, athletes of all kinds have taken an interest in CBD following reports of its beneficial effects on the body, particularly after exercise. Let's take a closer look at this.

What is the effect of CBD on the athlete?

CBD is increasingly used as a natural and light dietary supplement by athletes. It has proven to be particularly effective in protecting against injuries and optimizing muscle recovery after intense or sustained effort. CBD reduces muscle spasms and nausea that can occur after heavy physical exertion. It is also effective in accelerating the healing of an injury. In addition, there is the improvement of performance, without it being a doping substance ! Moreover, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)* has announced the official removal of CBD from its list of prohibited substances.

What do the athletes think?

CBD has proven to be a safe, non-psychotropic and non-addictive natural product and, icing on the cake: allowed to athletes! Many athletes around the world use it to improve their physical condition and boost recovery. They particularly appreciate it for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic action. Triathlon heroes like Judith Hagger and Andrew Talansky use CBD on a daily basis and have seen a significant improvement in their sleep and a significant reduction in joint injuries and pain. Other sports stars, such as Mike Tyson (no longer featured) or Anthony and Sergio Pettis (MMA champions) consider CBD to be an integral part of their training and post-combat pattern by accelerating their bodies' natural healing process.
CBD is also highly appreciated by athletes for its ability to manage the stress of competitions and its regenerative effect after them. It therefore has great physical and psychological advantages.

How do athletes use CBD ?

CBD is appreciated by endurance athletes for its pain relief properties.  Some athletes consume CBD the day before training, others during exercise. As it is not addictive, it can be used over long periods of time without side effects or dependence, unlike opioid analgesics.

CBD can be consumed in various forms: as edible oil, as an inhalant, or added to meals and drinks. Creams, balms and massage oils can also be applied locally for faster action.

In short

Athletes all over the world recognize CBD as having anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic and anxiolytic properties for the soothing of their body and mind. And this, without addiction or side effects, before, during and after exercise.

I work for WADA and found out about your article. Although there are still some studies to make, I can tell that most of athletes we met have already tested cbd oils. Great article! thanks
